Drivers, restart your engines.
NASCAR’s two-week summer break is over and it’s time to resume motoring toward the playoffs. After two weeks off to let NBC focus heavily on the Olympics, the Cup Series is back and looking at a month of Sundays (well, with one Saturday) before the regular season ends.
It’s Richmond this week for the Cook Out 400, then Michigan, Daytona and Darlington to wrap up the 26-race regular season and set the 16-car field for the 10-race playoffs.
The Truck Series, however, is ready to start slicing and dicing. Saturday’s Clean Harbors 250 marks the end of that circuit’s regular season. The top 10 drivers will take championship hopes into the seven-race playoffs that begin Aug. 25 at the Milwaukee Mile.
