LEBANON – Ryan Blaney’s day in the Ally 400 ended prematurely when he was involved in a crash on Lap 146 of the 300-lap NASCAR Cup Series race Sunday at Nashville Superspeedway.
Blaney got caught up in the accident that started when Brad Keselowski appeared to be unable to accelerate his racecar.
Blaney lost control and slid to the inside of the track. He hit the inside wall head on. The wall did not have a safer barrier around it, causing the hit to be even harder.

“I’m sure they will put one on it after this,” Blaney told Dustin Long of NBC Sports. “It sucks that things like that have to happen and someone hit the wall head on like that. Then they are like we’ll put a safer barrier on it now.”
Blaney finished last in the race.
“NASCAR safety engineers work closely with safety experts on the implementation of barriers around the track. As we do following every race weekend, we will evaluate all available data and make any necessary improvements,” wrote NASCAR in a statement.
