There are plenty of off-roading Porsche 911s out there. Porsche even builds one from the factory, but none are like the Singer ACS. Commissioned several years ago by an enthusiastic buyer, Singer actually built two. One was designed with an eye towards staying on paved roads. The other… wasn’t.
You can probably guess which one this video focuses on. We suggest watching carefully and then counting up your spare change, because this car is now for sale.
It’s certainly an odd video for promoting a vehicle for sale, but it is indeed listed as “available” by Joe Macari Performance Cars in London. There’s no price mentioned, and it’s safe to assume you’ll need a big line of credit to get it. When the car was first revealed, rumors suggested the ACS cost millions to commission. Admittedly, it’s been used since then. But as the video description states, it’s been “used as intended.” This could be the only car in history where a video of it doing donuts and launching off jumps could help the selling price.
As a reminder of what makes this car special, the ACS is based on a 964, but the similarities generally end with the shape. It has an air-cooled 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six that makes between 450 and 600 horsepower, depending on the tune. It powers all four wheels with a five-speed sequential gearbox, and to land safely after jumping, the custom suspension has 11.8 inches of travel, front and rear. The body is carbon fiber, and you’ll find a full roll cage inside.
Though looking (and driving) like a proper race car, the Singer ACS wasn’t built for any specific racing series. It was made to just be awesome, and after watching the above video, we still love it after all these years. Here’s hoping the new owner treats it just as well as the previous one.
