Burton earned his first career Cup win by passing Kyle Busch for the lead down the backstretch on the final lap via a push from Parker Retzlaff, then blocking Busch through the tri-oval to win Saturday’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona.
Burton, 23, earned win No. 100 for Wood Brothers Racing and locked himself into the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, shaking up the wild-card playoff picture heading into next week’s race at Darlington. Burton came into Saturday’s race in 34th in points, the worst rank among drivers who have run every race in 2024.
