It’s official: Parker Kligerman is not the Daytona Truck Series race winner.
The 34-year-old took the checkered flag in the Fresh From Florida 250 last Friday at Daytona International Speedway. But his No. 75 Henderson Motorsports ride failed the post-race inspection, earning him a disqualification and elevating runner-up Corey Heim to the No. 1 spot in the history books.
Henderson Motorsports appealed the decision. Thursday, it lost the appeal.
Why Parker Kligerman lost his appeal
Kligerman’s truck sat too low in the rear on both sides. His team felt it had a strong case in the appeals process and went before a three-person panel of Bill Mullis, Tommy Wheeler and Kevin Whitaker.
The National Motorsports Appeals Panel released the following statement:
“The panel confirms it is more likely than not a rules violation did occur and the disqualification penalties in Rule 10.5.2.4 necessitate a race disqualification.”
Kligerman left a full-time Xfinity Series seat at the end of last season. He is now a full-time broadcaster for the NASCAR Cup Series on NBC and Xfinity Series on the CW, adding a part-time Truck schedule with Henderson on the side.
“While we feel that we had a very strong case, we respect the panel’s decision,” Henderson Motorsports wrote in a social media post. “We’d again like to thank all the fans for their support. We’ve shown that we can compete, and we’ll be back.”
A race disqualification is an expedited appeal. Therefore, the result is final, and Henderson cannot appeal a second time.
