West Ham claimed a famous victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford 24 years ago today, and had the equally famous Paulo Di Canio to thank for the scalp.

With the FA Cup fourth round tie level at 0-0, Di Canio beat the offside trap before rolling the ball past Fabien Barthez as he protested in vain for the flag to be raised.

The Italian’s goal ensured that West Ham grabbed their first win at Old Trafford since 1986 in the process.
