Capocannoniere – The award for Serie A’s top scorer given out at the end of each season.
Cessione – A player sale
Classifica – The league table.
Forza – “Go!” or “Come on!” Fans of almost every team use it – “Forza Juve” or “Forza Viola” etc.
Mercato or Calciomercato – The transfer market.
Promozione – Promotion to the next league up.
Scudetto – The league title. It literally translates as “little shield,” referring to the badge teams wear on their jersey when they’ve won the league.
Salvezza – Avoiding relegation, literally means “salvation.”
Scambio – To exchange, or switch the play. Also used when teams swap players in a transfer deal.
Retrocessione – Relegation
