According to a report from La Provence, Olympique de Marseille are currently in discussions over a new contract for Panamanian defender Amir Murillo (29).
The Panama international arrived in Provence at the end of the Summer of 2023 for a transfer fee worth €2.5 million and has since emerged as one of the most reliable defenders for OM , especially thriving this season under Roberto De Zerbi.
Signing on a three-year contract from Belgian club Anderlecht, Murillo is looks set to sign on for longer, with discussions currently based over a further two-year contract with the Phocéen club which will run until 2028.
Roberto De Zerbi recently expressed his desire to keep Murillo as a long-term option at the club. “I hope he stays with us for many years because he is a good player, a great professional and a good guy,” said De Zerbi in a press conference attended by Get French Football News in January.
Discussions over an extension are reportedly progressing, with La Provence journalist Fabrice Lamperti reporting that a positive outcome should be reached in ‘the coming weeks’.
