Last month, a report revealed that Paris Saint-Germain have made River Plate’s Franco Mastantuono their top target and are prepared to trigger his €40 million release clause. However, this fee could rise to €45 million during the final ten days of any transfer window.
Despite PSG’s interest, Diario AS journalist Eduardo Burgos noted that Manchester United are also keeping a close eye on the young Argentine. Other European giants, including Barcelona, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Chelsea, are reportedly monitoring Mastantuono as well.
Nonetheless, ESPN Argentina suggested Manchester United are particularly eager to sign the teenager and plan to make their move in January.
Barcelona look to gain an edge in the race for Franco Mastantuono
According to Mundo Deportivo, a Barcelona scout was at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires watching Mastantuono in the Copa Libertadores, which would have been River Plate’s semifinal second-leg contest on Oct. 29 against Atletico Miniero.
This 2024 season, Mastantuono has made 38 appearances across all competitions for River Plate, scoring four goals and recording three assists.
