Reports in Germany claim that TSG Hoffenheim are in advanced negotiations to sign Bologna defender Stefan Posch.
Sky Sports Deutschland maintain that the talks are progressing well and the clubs hope to strike an agreement before transfer deadline day.
The 27-year-old is only under contract at the Stadio Dall’Ara until June 2026, so it would be in their interests to sell before the risk of losing him as a free agent becomes a consideration.
Posch on course for Hoffenheim comeback
Curiously, this would represent a return, because after leaving his native Austria in 2015, Posch joined the Hoffenheim youth academy and worked his way up to represent the senior squad.
Bologna first signed him on loan in September 2022 and then made the move permanent for €5m a year later.
He made 20 appearances for Bologna this season between Serie A and the Champions League, playing at right-back or in central defence.
DAZN transfer pundit Orazio Accomando reports that Wolfsburg are also interested in signing Posch this month, but that Hoffenheim have the advantage.
