Manchester United, the Premier League giants, could be changing hands sooner rather than later, after the Glazer family put the team for sale in November 2022, which could see former Old Trafford hero, David Beckham, back to the team in which he reached stardom back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.
Sheikh Jassim, former Qatari Prime Minister with a net worth of 1 billion dollars, is expected to make a bid for Manchester United at some point and has been in direct contact with Beckham and has urged him to become more vocal in his support for Jassim’s bid to buy the team
David Beckham was offered a role in the takeover
talkSPORT’s Anil Kandola reported that Sheikh Jassim offered Beckham a role as ‘International Ambassador’ in his potential administration as Man United’s new owner if he is successful in his bid, among other potential partnerships with the former England international, who was FIFA ambassador and advocate for the 2022 World Cup celebrated in Qatar.
Also, Beckham signed a 10-year deal with the Qatari government for 175 million dollars last year, which only confirms his ties with the Middle Eastern nation, which has also sparked controversy, as the accusations of Qatar’s workers and human rights abuses during the construction of the World Cup stadiums mounted throughout the years.
Beckham as an entrepreneur
David Beckham has a net worth of around 514 million dollars and is married to former Spice Girl, Victoria. The former Real Madrid player founded the newly added MLS franchise Inter Miami in 2020 and is part of the team’s ownership group alongside Jos Ms and Jorge Ms, acting as President and being key to the signing of Lionel Messi a couple of months ago.
Other Beckham business ventures include Guild Esports, a British E-sports organization, founded in 2020; Haig Club, a Scotch whisky brand with which he began to partner in 2014, and House 99, his own male skincare and grooming brand in collaboration with L’Oral.
