Everton are looking for a new coach. After sacking Frank Lampard, the Premier League club have been on the lookout for someone to take charge of the team and hopefully avoid relegation.
Marcelino has already been sounded out, but the Toffees are taking a wider look at coaches in Spain.
Davide Ancelotti, the son of the Real Madrid coach and his current assistant coach with Los Blancos, is on the radar.
Everton are playing it safe because they know Davide very well, with the coach having worked alongside his father during Carlo Ancelotti‘s time at Everton.
Ancelotti‘s stay on Merseyside was cut short when Real Madrid came knocking on his door two summers ago to bring him back to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
That proposal, even if it comes in the middle of the season, sounds good to Davide. He is thinking about it.
It is not that he is desperate to leave, but the idea of starting his own head coaching career in the Premier League, with a team of Everton‘s significant history and stature appeals to him.
His importance to first-team operations in Madrid has grown over the past year, but he has an ultimate goal of following in his father’s footsteps and becoming a head coach.
The option of Davide Ancelotti is one of those being discussed in the Everton offices, but he is not the first choice.
In fact, the beginning of the search for Lampard‘s replacement came with an attempt to persuade Marcelo Bielsa to take over.
This remains a path fraught with difficulties due to all the peculiarities involved in negotiating with the Argentinian.
At Real Madrid, they are aware of what is going on but are confident that Davide will decide to stay at the club at least until the end of the season.
