David De Gea‘s contract may be due to expire at the end of the season, but the Spanish goalkeeper intends on staying at Manchester United for a good while yet.
In fact, the 32-year-old can see himself retiring at Old Trafford.
Talks are already underway to extend De Gea‘s stay in Manchester and he is confident that both parties will come to an agreement.
It has even been reported that the Spaniard is prepared to take a pay cut to remain at the club.
“Yeah, I’m very relaxed. Just focus on training, perform as best as I can. But, for sure, it’s going to end in a good way,” De Gea told ‘Manchester Evening News’ about his contract talks.
Ending career at Manchester United
De Gea has had his ups and downs since arriving at Manchester United in 2011, but he feels at home at the club and has been an excellent servant.
Once again in possession of the no.1 jersey, it makes sense that the club want to keep him around too.
When asked about whether he might retire at the club, the former Atletico Madrid player said he was keen on the idea.
“I hope so. I was saying this is my club, I’ve been here many, many years and it’s a huge honour to be here and I’m so happy here,” said De Gea.
