Ahead of the FA Cup final, Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola spoke and made reference to the videos of Jose Mourinho verbally attacking Anthony Taylor.
The English referee took charge of the final of the Europa League that the Portuguese coach’s Roma lost on penalties against Sevilla.
“I regret the images I have seen that happened against Anthony Taylor, hopefully this type of situation will not happen again,” Guardiola said.
As for the duel against their neighbors and great rivals, Guardiola gave the title match the importance it deserves.
“It’s the FA Cup final and it’s a pleasure to be here,” he explained.
“A final is special in itself and, moreover, the United of the last four-five months is a completely different team, they have improved a lot.”
He also praised United manager Erik Ten Hag for the work he has done in his first season in charge.
“It’s not easy the first season in the Premier League, his good season defines what a great manager he is,” he confessed.
“I think Manchester United has an exceptional manager for many, many years.”
Guardiola also confirmed that Steffen Ortega will be the goalkeeper in the final, as he has been doing in the cup competition, to the detriment of Ederson, who has started in Premier League and Champions League matches.
The possible departure of Bernardo Silva
Guardiola also spoke about Bernardo Silva‘s possible departure from the Etihad, although, for the time being, he did not discard the possibility.
“I hope that this and the Champions League final are not his last games with City, but the truth is that I don’t know,” he explained.
