There are huge levels of uncertainty at Manchester City after the Premier League charged the club with financial breaches and it could affect the future of Pep Guardiola.
Among the alleged 115 breaches of FFP (Financial Fair Play) City are accused of not providing “truthful information”, not complying with UEFA regulations on Financial Fair Play and licensing, not complying with Premier League rules on profit and sustainability, hiding the true source of the club’s funding, declaring only a part of the salaries to players and coaches or deliberately obstructing the investigation that was opened in December 2018.
The Sun newspaper reported that “Premier League clubs are demanding blood and a swift verdict. And a punishment before the end of the season.” City‘s hypothetical sanction could range from loss of points to relegation.
There was a damage control meeting between staff, Guardiola and City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak after the Tottenham defeat to prepare everyone for the emerging reports.
The Sun reports that Manchester City expects Pep Guardiola to resign before they are sanctioned for more than 100 alleged Financial Fair Play breaches.
Guardiola warned Manchester City in May 2022: “If they lie to me, I won’t be here the next day.”
