Inter Milan will take on Young Boys in tomorrow’s UEFA Champions League clash without Francesco Acerbi and Hakan Calhanoglu.
According to FCInterNews, the first-team duo won’t travel to Bern with the rest of Simone Inzaghi’s side due to injuries.
In addition to Calhanoglu and Acerbi, Kristjan Asllani and Tajon Buchanan won’t be part of the traveling team.
The former two picked up injuries during Sunday’s Serie A game against Roma.
Calhanoglu had to leave the pitch after only 12 minutes.
Meanwhile, Inzaghi withdrew Acerbi midway through the second half.
As for Asllani, he suffered minor fitness problems during the international break.
The Albanian scored a decisive goal against Georgia but injured himself down the final stretch.
On the other hand, Buchanan is on the verge of returning to the fold from a long-term injury.
He broke his leg while on international duty with Canada during the summer.
Despite returning to partial training, Inzaghi won’t press the matter.
Instead, he’ll allow the 25-year-old wingback to fully recover before reinstating him in the squad.
Inter Milan Depart For Champions League Clash With Acerbi & Calhanoglu Out
With four first-team stalwarts out of contention for the matchday squad, Inzaghi has resorted to extreme solutions.
As a result of a growing injury crisis, Primavera duo Thomas Berenbruch and Mike Aidoo will travel to Bern.
However, they’ll unlikely have any minutes as Inter cannot afford to drop points against out-of-sorts Young Boys.
With Calhanoglu out, Piotr Zielinski could be in for his third Champions League start this season.
After recovering from a minor fitness issue, the Polish midfielder is ready to return to the starting XI.
Zielinski’s two starts for Inter this season have come at Europe’s top table.
After helping the Nerazzurri hold Manchester City to a scoreless draw, he was in the line-up that thumped Red Star Belgrade 4-0.
