Nerazzurri President Beppe Marotta feels that Inter Milan are “a family with great values.”
Marotta spoke at the club’s Christmas dinner, via FCInterNews. He also said that Inter are “not the best, but the most ambitious.”
Marotta has now been at Inter for more than six years.
It seemed like a great shock when the veteran joined the Nerazzurri from Juventus in 2018.
Inter acted fast to bring Marotta in after he had fallen out with the Bianconeri.
Over nearly a decade in Turin, Marotta had really established himself as the top football executive in Italy.
And over five seasons as Inter CEO of Sport, the 67-year-old showed exactly why that was the case. As he had done at Juventus, Marotta built a successful team without spending excessively.
That work, as well as his immense experience, saw Oaktree Capital name Marotta as Inter President in May of this year after the US fund took over as club owners from Suning.
Beppe Marotta: “Inter Milan A Family With Great Values”
Inter President Marotta said that “We know Christmas is a family celebration, and we are one.”
He called Inter “A group of people with great values.”
Inter “means having a rich heritage, that goes hand in hand with the history of a club that has a long list of trophies.”
“Last season was brilliant,” Marotta then went on.
“And now we’re already around six months into this season.”
“The equation that whoever spends the most, always wins, isn’t true,” Marotta then said. “So we can still give ourselves big goals.”
“The atmosphere around the club is a testament to that. We can see that this evening.”
“There’s cordiality, love, and great values,” the Inter President declared.
“There’s a big sense of belonging, work ethic, and competence in all of you,” Marotta then said. “Because with your work – often out of the spotlight – the team goes out on the pitch and achieves great things.”
“We have to pursue success – but also with respect to sustainability.”
“We also have to ambitious,” Marotta then said. “We say that we’re not the best, but we’re the most ambitious because we want to give everything.”
“We have a winning spirit,” the Inter President declared. “But it has to go hand in hand with respect for our opponents.”
“I wish you all a Merry Christmas,” Marotta concluded. “And the hope that you can all have even more to celebrate at the end of the season.”
