Joao Felix was shown a straight red card for a poor tackle on Kenny Tete on his Chelsea debut in their 2-1 defeat to Fulham.
Joao went into a challenge and left his studs on Tete‘s left shin in a hard tackle that could have left the Dutchman seriously injured at Craven Cottage.
Referee David Coote consulted the VAR and had no hesitation in sending off Joao Felix with a straight red after just 58 minutes of his Chelsea debut.
This sending off will force the player on loan from Atletico Madrid to miss Chelsea‘s next three matches against Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Fulham. That leaves him out for 30 days.
The Daily Mail estimates that Chelsea has invested a total of 23.6 million euros in the Joao Felix operation, between what they to pay Atletico for his loan as well as the player’s salary.
The newspaper reports that the cost of the red card Joao Felix received is estimated at 2.4 million euros, since each match Joao Felix plays for the London team is valued at 804,706 euros.
