LA Galaxy confirmed Mathias “Zanka” Jørgensen’s arrival on Wednesday from Belgian Pro League side Anderlecht.
The 34-year-old Danish international joins the MLS club on a two-year contract and brings with him a storied career.
Jørgensen has made over 500 professional appearances across top leagues in England (Brentford/ Huddersfield Town), Germany (Fortuna Düsseldorf), Netherlands (PSV Eindhoven), Denmark (FC Copenhagen) and Turkey (Fenerbahçe).
The 37-capped Denmark international also has plenty of UEFA Champions League and Europa League experience to bring to the United States.
“We are thrilled to welcome Zanka to the LA Galaxy,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Will Kuntz. “Zanka is a five-time Danish League and Danish Cup champion, has experience in the English Premier League and has represented Denmark in over 30 matches including at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.”

“Zanka’s quality and experience will be a great addition to our group as we prepare to participate in multiple competitions in the upcoming season.”
According to the club, Zanka “will occupy an international roster slot and will be added to the Galaxy roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P1 Visa.”
