Lamine Yamal has been the undisputed hero in the Barcelona attack this calendar year, mesmerising onlookers with his performances on the pitch.
The attacker has enjoyed a brilliant summer as well, helping Spain secure Euro 2024. In fact, his blazing performances in Europe attracted many top clubs across the globe, who wanted to secure the services of the young forward.
One of them was Paris Saint-Germain, who were willing to cough up as much as €250 million for the Spaniard.
PSG offered €250 million for Yamal
That is the word coming from Joan Laporta, who has confirmed in a recent interaction that the French giants were willing to break the bank for Yamal this past summer.
“We received a bid worth €250 million for Lamine Yamal and we have turned it down,” Laporta said (h/t Fabrizio Romano).
The offer came before the summer transfer window, at a time when PSG were desperate to sign the Barcelona forward.
PSG’s interest in signing Yamal in the summer is hardly surprising, as the French giants had announced the exit of star player Kylian Mbappe.
In order to fill the hole left by Mbappe, PSG wanted to bring in Yamal, who is widely regarded as the next big thing at Barcelona.
PSG are not new when it comes to spending big money on Barcelona players. They notably paid a record fee to sign Neymar in 2017. They have also recently signed Ousmane Dembele, who was ironically Neymar’s replacement at Barcelona.
This time, however, the Catalans have no desire to sell another star to PSG or any other club, for that matter. Yamal, after all, could be the face of the club in the years to come.
