Marco Asensio is thriving in his loan stint with Aston Villa as the Paris Saint-Germain loanee scored another brace as the Premier League side defeated Cardiff City on Friday night in the FA Cup.
Aston Villa’s first goal came when Marcus Rashford latched onto Youri Tielemans’ ball over the top, then cut it back for Asensio, who fired a first-time shot into the bottom corner.
The second goal for Villa after Leon Bailey plays a ball from the right which Olie Watkins allows to run past him. Asensio gets it and guides the ball into the bottom corner.
Villa’s second goal came after Leon Bailey sent a ball in from the right. Ollie Watkins let it go past him, and Asensio collected it, calmly placing it into the bottom corner.

One of the reasons why Asensio is thriving with Aston Villa is because of the connection he’s formed with Manchester United loanee Marcus Rasford.
“Marcus [Rashford] is a top player,” Asensio said postgame (h/t BBC). “We are together not so much but I know what he wants to do, where he passes and I am very happy to have Marcus and all of the teammates.
“We have to keep pushing, we are in the right way. Next step is Champions League and now the focus is there.”
