Elye Wahi (21) has yet to hit his stride since his big-money move to Olympique de Marseille. In his first eight games, he has netted just twice and he was hooked at half time during Sunday night’s Classique defeat against Paris Saint-Germain (3-0).
The difficult start comes after an unconvincing one-year spell at RC Lens, during which he never truly failed to build on the potential that he showed at Montpellier HSC. Internally at Marseille, there is now concern about whether Wahi is capable of reaching the top level, as reported by RMC Sport.
The France youth international’s attitude and commitment have already been called into question, but against PSG, there were also technical deficiencies in Wahi’s game. These deficiencies, coupled with an inability to hold the ball up against Les Parisiens are the source of doubt OM, who are becoming uncertain about Wahi’s capacity to establish himself at the top level.
