This past summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain had Napoli standout Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on their radar. Despite the capital club’s keen interest in the Georgian, a move didn’t transpire. Plus, the Serie A side wants to tie him down to a new contract.
Napoli stood their ground regarding their unwillingness to sell Kvaratskhelia. In the 2023-24 season, Kvaratskhelia played in 45 games, scoring 11 goals and making nine assists. His efforts were vital to Napoli’s 2023 Serie A title win.
Tuttomercatoweb reports that Manchester United sent a scout to watch Kvaratskhelia in action against Empoli this weekend. Moreover, TBR Football reports that Kvaratskhelia is leaning towards a move to England, with Arsenal and Liverpool as his preferred options.
Arsenal are targeting another winger in 2025, while Liverpool are considering options if Mohamed Salah leaves next year.
Napoli break silence over Khvicha Kvaratskhelia extension
Kvaratskhelia is under contract until 2027, but there is a hurdle to reaching an agreement on a contract extension. The player’s camp is asking for €8 million per season to extend their contract at the Stadio Maradona, but Napoli is only willing to offer €6 million plus add-ons.
“The extension of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia? We’ve been talking about it for a while,” manager Antonio Conte said (h/t Le10Sport). “There’s a discussion between the club and the player’s entourage. I hope things can be sorted out and an agreement can be reached between the parties.”
