Inter have officially signed Nicola Zalewski on loan from Roma with an option to buy, meaning they can give him his debut in Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina against Milan.
It kicks off at San Siro on Sunday at 17.00 GMT.
The deadline to complete the transfer and have the wing-back registered as part of the squad for this game was midnight local time and Inter squeezed him in with 30 minutes to spare.
The Poland international, who was born and raised near Rome and decided to represent the country of his parents, had rejected moves to Galatasaray and Olympique Marseille because he had his heart set on Inter.
Because his contract with Roma was due to expire on June 30, he had to extend it by a year first and then complete the transfer to San Siro.
It is confirmed as a loan with option to buy at the end of the season, with multiple sources reporting the club has paid €600,000 for the five months and can make it permanent for a further €6-6.5m.
