If Real Madrid’s ongoing injury crisis couldn’t have gotten any worse, the club have been dealt yet another blow, just a few days ahead of an important Champions League encounter against Manchester City.
Indeed, Real Madrid have confirmed that star player Lucas Vazquez has picked up an injury and will be sidelined immediately.
Real Madrid, through an official statement, have confirmed that Vazquez has picked up a muscle injury in the hamstring of his left leg.
How long will Lucas be out for?
In the statement, Real Madrid have further added that Lucas will not be a part of the upcoming Man City game.
A subsequent report from Diario AS now confirms that the veteran star will be sidelined for a period up to three weeks.
This means Lucas is set to miss both the encounters against Manchester City as well as a few other important games this month.
Real Madrid will be hopeful of getting Lucas back in action during the first week of March. But until then, the club must find a new fix for the right-back position.
With Dani Carvajal also out with a long-term injury, coach Carlo Ancelotti must once again find a temporary option in the position.
Federico Valverde is one option Ancelotti can count upon, whereas Ferland Mendy or Fran Garcia, too, could be forced to operate on the right flank.
As for Lucas, Real Madrid’s target is to have the Spaniard back in the squad for the game against Real Betis on March 2.
