Inter confirm CEO Corporate Alessandro Antonello has left the club ‘to pursue new challenges.’
Inter CEO Corporate Antonello has left the club and is expected to be announced as the new Roma CEO.
“FC Internazionale Milano can confirm that today, Monday 3 February, CEO Corporate Alessandro Antonello has left the Club to pursue new challenges,” Inter said in a statement.
“Antonello made a telling contribution to the Club’s development, performing several roles during his decade at Inter. He arrived in 2015 as Chief Financial Officer and expanded his responsibilities to Chief Operations Officer the following season. In 2017, he was promoted to the very top of the Club’s management as he was named Chief Executive Officer, a position he held under two different ownerships until his departure.
“His work was greatly appreciated and ensured that Inter received key managerial contributions, both in terms of developing the Club and its revenue. During his time here, his professionalism played a role in the Nerazzurri winning seven major honours: two Scudetti, two Coppa Italia titles and three Supercoppe Italiane.”
“As of today, the Club’s Chairman, Giuseppe Marotta, who retained his role as CEO Sport, will act as the sole CEO at the Club.”
Antonello said: “I would like to thank everyone who has made these ten years with the Nerazzurri unforgettable. From the Club’s employees to the players, from the coaching staff to the board members, from the sponsors to the suppliers. On a day like this, my thanks go out also to the whole Inter family, which is made up of millions of passionate fans. I will always remember working for this amazing Club; it’s a source of immense pride. I dedicated every possible hour of my time to Inter and I’m pleased to have contributed to making history at the Club, going from a difficult period to today when the commitment from us all has seen Inter return to the upper echelons of the Italian and European game.”
Inter President Giuseppe Marotta added: “On behalf of the Club and the Nerazzurri family, I wish to thank Alessandro for his dedication to Inter. I also admire his incredible human qualities, which I have done since his first day here. His work, without a doubt, helped us all begin this successful period. Among all the titles we’ve won together, I think that the day we won our Second Star is the memory that we will all cherish most.”
