In just 16 minutes of play, Michael Olise made Premier League history. His first assist came in the 53rd minute, his third in the 69th minute.
A hat-trick of assists without a set-piece against Leeds United in a game that Crystal Palace won 5-1, making him the youngest Premier League player to achieve this.
He is 21 years old, is a France U21 international and has skyrocketed in market value this season.
Crystal Palace coach Roy Hodgson was quick to praise Olise after the game.
“In the second half he was spot on with everything,” the manager said in his post-match press conference.
“In the first-half we didn’t get enough out of him, and we couldn’t bring him into the game as much as we wanted.
“In the first-half he was a figure on the right but he wasn’t creating chances or showing aggression in his play.
“In the second half he got it all right in both defence and attack and he showed what a wonderful player he is.
“I have seen him for 10 days less than I have seen the others. What I make of him is that I think he is an enormous talent – he has got a great possibility to have a wonderful career and a wonderful future.
“We can only hope we at Crystal Palace can give him that platform.”
A bargain
After shining in the Championship with Reading, Palace were quick to snap him up for less than 10 million pounds. A bargain, by any standards.
This season he has already doubled the minutes he played last season, when he made his Premier League debut. Since then, he has accumulated 12 assists.
Only Bukayo Saka (17 assists) has more than him among players under 21.
