Legendary former Inter Milan midfielder Lothar Matthaus won the Ballon d’Or in 1990.
That year was a tremendously successful one for Matthaus on a personal level. He won the World Cup with Germany in the 1990 edition of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Lothar Matthaus was also certainly at the peak of his powers for Inter.
The Nerazzurri didn’t manage to win the title in the 1989-90 season as they had done the previous campaign. However, Matthaus was certainly still a star man at the San Siro.
Inter Milan took to Twitter to commemorate the day Matthaus showed off the trophy to the fans.
