A judge in Majadahonda, located just outside Madrid, is currently investigating Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales and is looking into any alleged irregularities.
As part of this investigation, Gerard Pique has been ordered to hand over the contract that his company signed with the federation when he helped take the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia.
This is according to El Confidencial, the newspaper which broke several stories in 2022 about the decision to take that tournament abroad.
The magistrate handling the case in the Majadahonda court has been looking at the invoices between the federation and Saudi Arabia, as well as studying the sale of the broadcasting rights for the Copa del Rey in African countries such as Mauritania and Mauritius.
Now, the judge at the Majadahonda court has reportedly given Pique 10 days to provide documentation that relates to the federation.
It is understood that the federation signed a deal with Pique‘s company Kosmos “to go abroad and look at possible options to host the Spanish Super Cup” and now the judge wants to see documentation.
In January, the same court asked the federation to submit their accounts for 2020.
The anti-corruption prosecutor’s office made a request to require the federation’s secretary general to send the general ledger for 2020 “at the highest level of disaggregation” and this was accepted.
The complaint, filed by CENAFE president Miguel Galan, spoke about alleged commissions obtained by the federation and Pique‘s company.
