Real Madrid have confirmed that France international Kylian Mbappé suffered an injury to his thigh during the club’s recent 3-2 victory away against Atalanta in the Champions League.
The 2018 World Cup winner looked a real threat against La Dea in the opening stages of Tuesday night’s Champions League game, opening the scoring after 10 minutes and threatening Marco Carnesecchi again shortly afterwards.
However, his game against Atalanta only lasted for 36 minutes before he was replaced by Rodrygo.
The 25-year-old went down on the half-way line rather inconspicuously, and was substituted off less than a minute later.

Though the nature of his injury was not clear at the time, Madrid have since confirmed that he has suffered a thigh injury and that his recovery will be monitored on a day-to-day basis.
“Following tests carried out on Kylian Mbappé today by the Real Madrid medical department, the player has been diagnosed with a thigh injury in his left leg. His progress will be monitored,” a statement on the club website read.
Madrid went on to shine without Mbappe against Atalanta. Though Charles De Ketelaere equalised from the penalty spot, Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham hit back to make it 3-1, before Ademola Lookman clawed one back 25 minutes before time.
