Real Madrid showed why they are champions with a dominant 4-0 victory over a Granada side with nothing to play for after their relegation was confirmed earlier in the day.
Their place in the Segunda Division was confirmed with Mallorca’s win over Las Palmas, and their day went from bad to worse against a Los Blancos side that showed the quality of its depth.
Carlo Ancelotti retained just one name from the lineup that completed a magnificent midweek Champions League comeback over Bayern Munich: the rock Rdiger. Next to the German was Militao, who is still looking for form and he showed it in a couple of moments with Boye.
Brahim Diaz led the way by scoring two goals, the first a cracker, but it was Fran Garcia who broke the deadlock after 38th minute.
The Spaniard had an easy finish after an extended piece of possession for the away side. Garcia then turned provider just before the break, picking out Arda Guler who slotted home to double the advantage just before half-time.
Brahim Diaz brace puts the game to bed
From there Callejon came on for Jozwiak, but things didn’t improve for the home side. Try as they might, they could do little to deny Brahim.
He blew the match open after the restart, turning in the midfield to get rid of an opponent, driving to the front, breaking an opponent in the area and placing the ball in the back of the net.
Then, 10 minutes later in the 58th minute, he put the finishing touch on a build-up that involved everyone, with Luka Modric providing the final pass from the right for Brahim to fire home.
From there Toni Kroos came on for Modric, who came off with the Los Crmenes stands on their feet. Madrid slowed down the pace a bit after that, but still could have added to the lead.
Joselu tried his luck but couldn’t find the back of the net, with the rest of the match playing out to little fanfare as Real Madrid showed their championship pedigree once again.
