Rio Ferdinand, the legendary Manchester United defender who is now a pundit on BT Sport, defended Manchester City‘s bid for the treble (Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League) after their emphatic 4-1 win at the Etihad Stadium against Arsenal.
The former player believes that “you would be stupid” to doubt City‘s chances of winning the treble, a feat that only Manchester United has achieved in England.
“Manchester City could win every game they have coming up, and they have shown that with the amount of points they have accumulated in the last two seasons,” Ferdinand argued.
“Real Madrid have world-class players and can pull a great performance out of nothing”
But Rio Ferdinand warns Manchester City about Real Madrid, the team they face in the Champions League semi-finals and who knocked them out last season.
“The big one is Real Madrid. It doesn’t matter how Real Madrid come into that game, we’ve seen the history they have in the Champions League,” he warned.
Ferdinand believes that “Real Madrid can pull a great performance out of nothing” and maintains that “they have world-class players all over the pitch and the experience to match Manchester City“.
