Manchester City have confirmed their repositioning of highly-rated Academy left-back talent, Tom Galvez on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
The 19-year-old agreed a deal to join LASK on loan for the duration of the ongoing season last summer, completing a move to the Austrian club upon the conclusion of Manchester City’s pre-season tour of the United States last summer.
Galvez, who moved to the Etihad Stadium from Watford, was part of Pep Guardiola’s tour squad of the United States, as Manchester City played friendlies against Celtic, AC Milan, FC Barcelona and Chelsea.
The teenager also represents Finland internationally, and made 18 Premier League 2 and seven UEFA Youth League appearances for Manchester City’s EDS last season, registering three direct goal involvements.
But after a problematic temporary spell with LASK during the opening six months of the campaign, Manchester City have moved swiftly to ensure that the defender has another opportunity to excel in senior football during the remaining months of the season.
As confirmed by the Premier League champions over the course of the weekend, Tom Galvez has seen his season-long loan deal at LASK terminated early, and has joined SC Cambuur for the rest of the season, subject to international clearance.
For now, it remains to be seen what Manchester City’s longer-term ambitions are for Galvez, although the limited options at full-back in Pep Guardiola’s first-team may give the player some hope of a pathway back into the Etihad Stadium picture.
