Tomori saves Milan career with Supercoppa performances after Juventus links

Fikayo Tomori is firmly back in the picture at Sergio Conceicao’s Milan following a pair of decent performances against Juventus and Inter en route to victory in the Supercoppa Italiana, despite a reported agreement between the former Chelsea defender and the Bianconeri.

Tomori turns things around at Milan after Supercoppa

According to various reports over the last few months, Milan had been considering selling Tomori to Juventus after falling out of favour in San Siro under the recently departed Paulo Fonseca.

Tomori played the full 90 minutes in six out of the first seven matches of the Serie A season, but has gone on to play for just 13 minutes across three substitute appearances in the league since then.

Reports in Italy claim that there was an agreement in place for a two-year loan deal with a deferred option to buy.

Following the arrival of Conceicao and the Supercoppa Italiana mini-tournament in Saudi Arabia, however, Tomori is very much back in the first team plans, and according to reports from Calciomercato.com, Milan and advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic have made a U-turn on their transfer stance.

Juventus, meanwhile, are still on the lookout for one or possibly two new defenders in the January transfer window, and are ‘unwilling’ to give up on their pursuit of Tomori, but now a deal looks significantly more tricky to pull off.
