Manchester United suffered their ninth defeat of the Premier League campaign against Newcastle United on Monday.
The Red Devils were second-best for most of the first half. The Magpies scored twice within the opening 20 minutes.
United had a couple of clear-cut chances to find the back of the net, but they could not muster a single shot on target at Old Trafford.
Casemiro was one of the worst players on the pitch. The Brazilian struggled to provide any control over proceedings in midfield.
UOL now claim that Casemiro ‘agrees to leave’ the Red Devils. Public Investment Fund (PIF) are weighing up an approach for him.
PIF have stakes in Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli, Al-Ettifaq and Al-Qadisiyah. They could bring Casemiro to one of the Saudi clubs.
There are reportedly no ‘major obstacles’ from United, who could try to recoup part of the transfer fee invested in the 32-year-old.
In our view, United should focus on a mid-season deal for Ederson if Casemiro heads for the exit door.
The midfielder was on the club’s radar in the last transfer window, but a deal did not materialise.
United remain interested in the 25-year-old and he would be a top-class acquisition this winter.
The Brazilian can play from the central and defensive midfield roles. He has been one of Atalanta’s best players in the ongoing season.
He has completed an impressive 87 percent of his passes in Serie A this campaign with 5.6 recoveries and 5.1 duels won on average.
Ederson has also excelled with his tireless work rate, high pressing and positioning in midfield.
Atalanta value him in the region of £50 million, and United need to show ambition with a winter swoop if Casemiro were to depart.
