Harry Kane lasted just 45 minutes as Bayern Munich secured their place in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 following their 3-2 aggregate win over Celtic.
The Englishman, who has 39 goal contributions (29 goals and 10 assists) in 31 games across all competitions this season, missed Bayern’s last training session prior to Tuesday night’s win against Celtic but gave the green light to play.
However, Kane didn’t appear after the break and was replaced by Kingsley Coman. Speaking after Bayern’s 1-1 draw on the night, Vincent Kompany said: “During the game he didn’t feel like he could help the team with his full strength, that’s why we didn’t want to take any extra risks.”
Speaking in the mixed zone, via kicker, Kane said: “I need to get it checked out and see what exactly is going on. I felt something after the Leverkusen game. I wanted to use every opportunity to be on the pitch today.”
Providing an update on Kane’s status, Kompany said: “It’s a bit of a shame that Harry is out, but I can’t say how long yet or what the problem is.”
Kane is expected to undergo tests on Wednesday, but it’s not yet known whether the 31-year-old will feature in the Bundesliga against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.
