More Premier League action is underway on Thursday, with two games on the schedule.
Follow it all here.
Man Utd v Southampton
Scorer: Ugarte 43′ (OG)
Over at Old Trafford, Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United hopes to ride the high of knocking Arsenal out of the FA Cup.
Bottom-side Southampton are their opponents, who will need to be at the top of their game to earn only their second win this season.
Pressure is on youngsters Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo to have an impact. The first to do so, however, was Andre Onana, as he denied a shot from Kamaldeen Sulemana.
The Argentina international later had a glorious chance to open the scoring at the other end. Rasmus Hojlund carried the ball forward and a trailing Garnacho crashed the box but missed the target completely.
Saints again showed they can pin United back in their box, however. Tyler Dibling called Onana into another save, and the goalkeeper made two in one swoop, denying Mateus Fernandes on the follow-up.
That pressure eventually cracked United and the visitors scored grabbed the lead. Following a corner, the ball hit off Manuel Ugarte’s back and despite Onana’s hand getting to it, it wasn’t enough.
Ipswich v Brighton
Scorer: Mitoma 59′
Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich hope to move away from the threatening relegation zone while Fabian Hürzeler’s Brighton chase a European spot.
Kaoru Mitoma was particularly lively in the midfield during the early showings as the Seagulls controlled the pitch. Joao Pedro tried to find the opener but sent a looping header wide in a chance he’d like back.
Meanwhile, it took the hosts a bit of time to grow into the game. Nathan Broadhead’s curling effort was denied by Bart Verbruggen near the half-hour mark before Liam Delap’s fizzing strike from the edge of the box was, too.
A first half featuring only a handful of genuine chances, things remained 0-0 at the break.
Controversy arrived early into the second half when Pedro completely took out goalkeeper Christian Walton. The striker was shown a yellow card for the incident and Ipswich argued the colour as Walton required a brief concussion check.
Things then turned worse for the hosts minutes later when Brighton grabbed the lead. An alert and unmarked Mitoma was near the top of the box and drove home for 1-0.
More Premier League action continues over the weekend, with Newcastle against Bournemouth to kick things off.
