Tonight’s NXT New Year’s Evil got even bigger following the announcement of The Rock appearing on the show. While the brand is more about up-and-rising talents, it also has some legends present.
Last night, The Rock returned to WWE television during Monday Night RAW’s Netflix debut. After the segment, he shared on Instagram Live that he will appear on tonight’s NXT New Year’s Evil special episode. It’s already expected that he might cross paths with his daughter, Ava, who is the brand’s general manager. However, The Final Boss might also cross paths with fellow legends of the sport.
For this list, we will look at three legends The Rock can run into at NXT New Year’s Evil.
#3. Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative Shawn Michaels
Shawn Michaels manages the Tuesday Night show in addition to Ava. The Heartbreak Kid doesn’t often get involved with storylines or appear much on NXT television, like Triple H on the main roster, but in recent weeks, he has mainly involved Ava.
As many may remember, Shawn stood up for Ava when she got into a heated confrontation with Eddy Thorpe. Tonight, The Final Boss can catch up with HBK and thank him for watching his daughter’s back and guiding her.
#2. WWE NXT Commentator Booker T has a history with The Rock
Another WWE Hall of Famer in the developmental brand is Booker T. Since 2022, he has served as a commentator for the brand. He has provided fans with some of the most entertaining but also insightful comments about stars and matches. His ad-libs on Trick Williams’ entrance have also become something many look forward to.
Tonight, Dwayne Johnson can give a nod to his former rival with a simple gesture. Before going up the ring for his supposed promo, The Brahma Bull can shake hands or simply pat the back of the two-time Hall of Famer.
#1. Vice-President of Global Talent Development William Regal
William Regal has a large backstage responsibility as he is the one who is mainly in charge of watching every show to provide feedback to the superstars. Despite his backstage duties, he still makes time to appear now and then on-screen.
Although Regal is involved with the Heritage Cup with his son Charlie Dempsey, it’s more than likely that if he gets involved with The Rock tonight, it will occur backstage so as not to overshadow any feuds.
