WWE RAW’s premiere on Netflix was a huge night for Roman Reigns. The OTC went one-on-one with Solo Sikoa in Tribal Combat. The winner was to be named the real Tribal Chief and earn the Ula Fala.
In somewhat predictable fashion, Roman managed to defeat the junior Sikoa in what was a solid bout. However, the bigger story came on Friday Night SmackDown when Paul Heyman dropped a Roman Reigns bombshell.
The Wiseman of the OTC revealed that Roman wanted the World Title back from Cody Rhodes. Although he wasn’t directly challenging The American Nightmare to a match. Instead, Roman has entered himself in the upcoming Men’s Royal Rumble Match.
This is huge news and exciting for viewers, but it does raise a key question. What might happen if Roman Reigns does win the big-time stipulation match? This article will take a look at a handful of things that could go down if The Tribal Chief wins the 30-man bout.
Below are four things that may happen if Roman Reigns wins the WWE Men’s Royal Rumble Match:
#4. It would be vindication for Roman Reigns after the 2015 disaster
This would not be Roman Reigns’ first Royal Rumble win in WWE. He has had a ton of success in the past and that includes winning the specialty match. With that being said, his big win in 2015 was anything but a fond memory.
The fans hated Roman Reigns at this point in time despite being a babyface. He won the bout and the audience hated it. The Rock even helped him fight off heels, raising Roman’s hand to celebrate his success, yet the fans relentlessly booed the unpopular face.
This was humiliating for everyone involved. However, things are much different now. Roman is loved and respected. Winning a decade later would be vindication for the OTC, as fans would now cheer on his success as opposed to begrudging him like they did in the past.
#3. Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns III would take place at WWE WrestleMania 41
The story of Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns has been a fascinating one and it dates back to The Shield. The Rhodes family and The Shield battled it out multiple times and it was very exciting. Still, that era couldn’t touch the magnificent rivalry the two have shared since Cody returned to WWE.
The American Nightmares and The Tribal Chief have managed to do something very few others have pulled off, they have headlined WrestleMania twice. Not only did they main event The Show of Shows on two occasions, but they did it in back-to-back years.
If Roman Reigns were to win the Men’s Royal Rumble Match and challenge Cody Rhodes, it would be a historic third main event in a row for the two megastars. Even The Rock vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin had breaks in their epic trilogy and only two bouts were the main event. Cody vs. Roman III would be truly historic.
#2. CM Punk could be inserted per Paul Heyman’s favor
The unthinkable happened just a few months ago. While the OG Bloodline and the new Bloodline were battling it out, Paul Heyman had to get a fifth man to help Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, and Sami Zayn.
That fifth man ended up being CM Punk. The Second City Saint is no friend of Roman Reigns’ and he wanted something in return for helping. What he received was a future favor from WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman.
If Roman wins the Royal Rumble Match and battles Cody Rhodes in the WrestleMania 41 main event, CM Punk might cash in that favor and ask to be added to the bout. From there, CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Cody Rhodes could have arguably the biggest Triple Threat Match in company history.
#1. John Cena could face Gunther instead of Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania
John Cena is one of the biggest WWE Superstars ever, but his time as a pro wrestler is nearly over. The Face That Runs The Place has started his Farewell Tour, which will end in December of this year.
Fans are eagerly awaiting which matches Cena will have throughout the year and one rumored bout is against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. However, if Roman Reigns wins the Men’s Royal Rumble Match Cena vs. Rhodes will not be happening.
Instead, John Cena could potentially win the Men’s Elimination Chamber Match and go on to challenge RAW’s World Champion Gunther instead. The World Heavyweight Champion would put the 47-year-old through the wringer, but it could still be a special match even if not at the level of Rhodes vs. Cena, arguably.
