2024 is in the history books, and the last twelve months were incredible for the WWE Universe. The storytelling was at its finest, while the ring-action was also commendable.
Full-time talent like Rhea Ripley, Cody Rhodes, Gunther, “Main Event” Jey Uso, Damian Priest, The Judgment Day, IYO SKY, and Bianca Belair carried much of the heavy duties of ring action. Part-time superstars like Roman Reigns, The Rock, and CM Punk also entered the squared circle.
However, several WWE stars couldn’t wrestle a single match in the last year. In this list, we will look at four such names:
#4. WWE’s resident “Queen” Charlotte Flair has not wrestled in over a year
On December 8, 2023, Charlotte Flair tore her ACL, MCL, and meniscus during a match against Asuka. The severe injuries have kept The Queen out of the squared circle, forcing her to miss all the “Big Four” PLEs of 2024.
If Flair hadn’t gotten injured, she would have been a mainstay in the main event scene and possibly could have won more World Titles. While there were murmurs of an imminent return in the final few weeks of the year, Charlotte is still on the shelve.
The Queen’s recent social media activity has also fueled rumors of an impending return. Her comeback will shake the women’s division to its core.
#3. Former Ms. Money in the Bank Carmella
Carmella last wrestled in March 2023. The former SmackDown Women’s Champion went on maternity leave and is now thoroughly enjoying motherhood.
Despite delivering birth, Carmella is yet to return, and an unfortunate report dimmed down the hopes of her comeback in the foreseeable future. The former Ms. Money in The Bank suffered a dropped foot after giving birth.
There is no definitive timeline for her return to the ring. But, given the struggles she has endured coupled with the extended absence, fans would be delighted to see her in action again soon.
#2. Alexa Bliss has not wrestled since Royal Rumble 2023
Like Carmella, Alexa Bliss also took maternity leave. Little Miss Bliss disappeared from television after losing to Bianca Belair at Royal Rumble 2023. The former Women’s Champion has been gone for nearly two years, leaving fans wondering about her future.
Fortunately, Bliss’ recent media posts provide a positive update. There is also a ready-made storyline for the star. The Wyatt Sicks, led by Uncle Howdy, could use Bliss’ eccentric version that worked wonders with The Fiend.
Howdy pursued Bliss before she took time off for maternity leave. Bray Wyatt’s death and the birth of The Wyatt Sicks give both members sufficient grounds to join forces and spread fear in the WWE locker room.
#1. Brock Lesnar has stepped away from WWE
In January 2024, Brock Lesnar’s name was implicated in the Janet Grant lawsuit against Vince McMahon. The Beast Incarnate’s imminent WWE return was postponed, and all plans involving him were shelved.
His name has seldom been mentioned in 2024, and a surprise return in the foreseeable future seems unlikely. Lesnar was last seen at SummerSlam 2023, where he lost to Cody Rhodes, and then publicly endorsed The American Nightmare.
The controversial nature of the circumstances has further complicated matters, and fans may never see Lesnar in a WWE ring again.
