Female WWE stars have only had a Royal Rumble since 2018. Asuka won the first edition but lost to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34. Becky Lynch won the next year, followed by Flair in 2020.
WWE’s roster right now is deep with talented performers on RAW, SmackDown, and NXT. Even with stacked divisions, only a handful of superstars legitimately have a chance to win the Royal Rumble every year.
This year’s contest falls into that category as well. A lot of the same names, including the next five stars, are favorites but they shouldn’t win the 2025 Women’s Royal Rumble Match:
#5. Nia Jax just lost the WWE Women’s title
It’s safe to say Nia Jax has had one of the best years of her career in 2024. After winning the Queen of the Ring Tournament, she defeated Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam.
Jax also had some of the best matches of her career with Bayley and Naomi. Since she just lost the title to Tiffany Stratton’s cash-in, she shouldn’t earn another title shot by winning the Royal Rumble.
She’ll have a rematch either before or at the event itself. Even if she comes in at the end like she normally does, Jax doesn’t need to win the 2025 edition.
#4. Becky Lynch could return at the Royal Rumble
Becky Lynch also doesn’t need to win the Women’s Royal Rumble this year. The Man is one of the most popular stars in WWE and has done almost everything there is to do in the company.
Being the first woman to win two Royal Rumbles would be another notch on her résumé. However, her standing in WWE would allow her to challenge for any title when necessary.
‘Rumble wins should be saved for stars who need that one last push towards a major title shot for the first time. The honor should also be given to those who haven’t won a title in a long time. Lynch also had a short reign as Women’s World Champion before her contract expired in June 2024.
#3. Bianca Belair & #2. Jade Cargill are tag team partners
Bianca Belair doesn’t need to win this year’s Royal Rumble. Of the former winners on this list, she’s the most recent winner. The EST chased the WWE Women’s Championship for much of 2023, even winning it briefly at SummerSlam that year.
IYO SKY cashed in on her, setting The EST on a pursuit to reclaim the title throughout the rest of 2023. Although she was out of the World Title picture, she held the Women’s Tag Team Championship for much of 2024. Jade Cargill is in a similar situation after making her in-ring debut in last year’s ‘Rumble.
Her early focus in the ring has been as a tag team. If WWE holds off Cargill’s return until the Royal Rumble, The Storm would be an immediate favorite due to her size. She made the final three last year with Liv Morgan and Bayley.
Cargill still has some work to do if she’s going to be a singles champion. A better route would be an angle between her and her attacker eliminating each other to set up a potential match for WrestleMania 41.
#1. Charlotte Flair is always in the final three
When it comes to women who should win this year’s ‘Rumble, the list is barren compared to the men. This may be the first time the female edition has a repeat winner.
Since she hasn’t wrestled in over a year, WWE may want to thrust Charlotte Flair back to the top of the women’s division. She could win the 30-women match and challenge whichever champion she chooses at WrestleMania 41.
WWE will likely want to reward The Queen after missing out on the entirety of last year with a major injury. Despite that possibility, Flair does not need to win the Royal Rumble 2025 to get a World Title shot.
As she has done in the past, she’ll just walk up to the current champion and demand an opportunity based on her reputation.
