Brock Lesnar has been away from WWE since SummerSlam 2023. The Beast Incarnate has not been present since his defeat at the hands of Cody Rhodes. Interestingly, however, there’s a chance that the former Universal Champion could return to challenge Gunther when RAW moves to Netflix.
The Ring General has garnered a reputation as an invincible superstar who has only been pinned by Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes in 2024. In a conversation with Ludwig Kaiser a few weeks ago, The Imperium leader said that he wanted to be a better champion.
This transition from calling himself the best to acknowledging his shortcomings came after his defeat at Crown Jewel.
The World Heavyweight Champion failed to become the inaugural men’s Crown Jewel Champion in Riyadh. He suffered a clean defeat against The American Nightmare after calling him a second-rate champ for weeks. The star is in need of a new test and has to once again prove himself despite defeating Damian Priest and Finn Balor in a Triple Threat match. One could argue that Gunther currently lacks a credible opponent heading into WrestleMania season.
Notably, Brock Lesnar could return to RAW’s Netflix era and become a test for Gunther. Rhodes had also defeated Lesnar before heading to WrestleMania XL and defeating Roman Reigns to become the Undisputed WWE Champion. Thus, the company could throw Gunther the challenge and see if he also emerges as a Beast Slayer, proving that he is becoming a better champion.
This could further lead to The Ring General asking for another match against Cody Rhodes. Although this is a significant approach the company can take, all of this is speculation so far.
Brock Lesnar could also stand in the way of Bron Breakker
After his defeat at the 2023 SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar was reported to be returning at the 2024 Royal Rumble. However, the Beast was nowhere to be seen as the former WWE Champion went on a hiatus. It was reported at the time that Bron Breakker took his place in the Royal Rumble bout and this could fuel a feud between Lesnar and the current Intercontinental Champion.
Since then, The Dog has solidified his place on the RAW roster and is a two-time Intercontinental Champion. Moreover, he keeps complaining that Adam Pearce never gives him good opponents to defend his title against. Thus, the General Manager can throw Breakker the challenge of his career by putting him in the ring against Brock Lesnar.
The Beast Incarnate could make Breakker pay his dues for taking his spot in last year’s Royal Rumble. Additionally, if the former NXT Champion defeats Brock Lesnar, it would be a big hallmark in the WWE career of the 27-year-old.
It will be interesting to see what lies in the future for Lesnar.
