2025 is off to a great start for former WWE Superstar Matt Riddle. The King of Bros recently became the new MLW World Heavyweight Champion. Thus, congratulations are in order for the former UFC fighter.
Matt Riddle has been experiencing a career resurgence since being let go by WWE in late 2023.
He has made the most use of the independent circuit and has added several new accolades to his resume. The 38-year-old star, who is currently signed to MLW, has also worked for some of the well-established promotions like NJPW and TNA Wrestling.
Last night at the Kings of Colosseum, Matt Riddle dethroned Satoshi Kojima in the main event to capture the MLW World Heavyweight Title for the first time. He ended the Japanese legend’s reign at 344 days.
After the match, Riddle showed respect to Kojima as he put down one of the all-time greats outside the world of WWE.
“The BRO ERA has begun! Drop a 🤙below to join us in congratulating our new #MLW World Champion, Matt Riddle!”

Will Matt Riddle return to WWE anytime soon?
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Matt Riddle said he feels the chances of him returning to the Stamford-based promotion are “extremely high.”
He felt that if CM Punk can reconcile with the promotion he once sued, he can also be welcomed back with open arms.
“The chances of me going back, I think they’re extremely high,” Riddle said. “If CM Punk, who filed a lawsuit against WWE, and then raked them through the mud for a decade, then goes to the competition, I’ll tell you this, if he can do that, everything can be forgiven. I know I wasn’t the easiest to work with at times. I think the door is always open,” he said.
Riddle added:
“I think the longer I’m away, the harder I work, and the more I do, the more likely I could come back. But I’ll also say this, if I never go back ever again, and they never talk to me again, I’ll be ok with that.”
The former UFC star has often expressed his desire to finish his story with Randy Orton, with whom he formed RK-Bro during his run. In pro wrestling, it’s never say never and time heals all wounds.
Will Matt Riddle make a sensational return to WWE in the future? Only time will tell.
