The long-drawn rivalry between Damian Priest and Finn Balor seemingly ended on last night’s RAW in a brutal main-event match. However, one moment from their encounter made the babyface Priest look like a heel, and Vince Russo pointed out why on Legion of RAW.
The former Judgment Day friends battled in a barbaric Street Fight to close out RAW, with Priest expectedly picking up the win over Balor.
There was a moment when the match could have concluded abruptly, as Finn Balor was put on the stretcher by the medical team. The Punisher didn’t allow it to happen, though, as he attacked The Prince and ensured the bout continued.
Vince Russo found Damian’s actions odd for a babyface. As explained on Legion of RAW, the veteran felt that The Archer of Infamy became a heel for a few minutes when he assaulted a superstar, who was getting medical treatment.
Russo added that he would have instead had Finn Balor fake an injury and catch Damian Priest off guard just as the 42-year-old got closer. The former WWE writer noted:
“Priest was a heel attacking Finn Balor with a neck brace on a stretcher. I mean, they should have done the complete opposite, where Priest turns his back on Balor and Balor gets up, playing possum the whole time. But by the time they finished this, it wasn’t a real injury anyway. It wasn’t real anyway.” [From 1:02:45 onwards]
With the win over Balor, Damian Priest is likely done with The Judgment Day story, and most fans are interested to see what’s next for the former World Heavyweight Champion on WWE RAW.
