Bill Goldberg has competed in more than 300 matches during his wrestling career. Gage Goldberg, the WWE Hall of Famer’s son, recently gave his thoughts on his father’s bout with Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series 2016.
The event ended with Bill Goldberg returning to WWE in-ring competition for the first time in 12 years. The WCW icon hit Lesnar with two Spears and a Jackhammer before pinning him to record a shock 86-second win.
Gage Goldberg attended the event to watch his dad’s big moment. In an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, the 18-year-old named the Lesnar match as his father’s best in-ring performance:
“I’d say in person his best match was against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series,” Gage Goldberg said. “That one was the most exhilarating. It was the best one I’ve seen. It was just amazing. He was killing him with that Spear. Just to see him kill Brock Lesnar in that soon of a time, because Brock Lesnar’s a bada**. He’s one of the coolest guys in WWE right now, of all time, for sure.” [4:08 – 4:36]

Gage Goldberg on Bill Goldberg possibly renewing Brock Lesnar rivalry
In 2025, Bill Goldberg is due to compete in a WWE retirement match. Based on their Bad Blood interaction on October 5, Gunther currently looks like his most obvious opponent.
Asked if we could see Bill Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar again, Gage Goldberg made it clear he would like the two men to battle it out one more time:
“I have no clue, I’m gonna be honest. If it happened, that would be cool.” [4:49 – 4:53]
Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Analyst Dr. Chris Featherstone recently reported that Lesnar’s WWE return has not been discussed internally. He added that The Beast Incarnate “will not be returning any time in the foreseeable future.”
