Gage Goldberg has appeared sporadically on WWE television since his father Bill Goldberg returned to the company in 2016. In an exclusive interview, the 18-year-old explained why being the son of a well-known wrestler is not always easy.
Like his dad, Gage Goldberg has a keen interest in football. He is currently training under NFL legend Deion Sanders, aka Coach Prime, at the University of Colorado. Before that, he played the sport at Samuel V. Champion High School in Texas.
Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Gage Goldberg addressed the topic of opponents targeting him due to his family history:
“I mean, it’s definitely tough. You got the upsides and the downsides, for sure. Real-life scenario, you’re in a football game, every single play there’s someone coming for your head because you got the last name Goldberg on your jersey, so that’s definitely one thing.” [1:17 – 1:33]

Gage Goldberg on people wanting him to fail
In 2016, Gage Goldberg was 10 years old when he appeared on WWE programming ahead of his dad’s match against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. He also got involved in a physical altercation with Bobby Lashley during Bill Goldberg’s rivalry with The All Mighty in 2021.
Due to his famous father and early television exposure, Gage has noticed many people do not want him to succeed:
“You got a lot of haters on Instagram and social media and everything. That’s for sure. There’s just so many people in this world that wanna see your downfall. Since you started high up, they just wanna see you fall.” [1:34 – 1:46]
Gage’s most recent WWE appearance came on October 5 at Bad Blood. He watched from ringside as Gunther mocked his father during an in-ring promo.
