The WWE Universe has a unique relationship with Sheamus. Despite heel turns, the multi-time champion has remained a fan-favorite superstar since inking his developmental contract in 2007. The Celtic Warrior also had a strong relationship with company officials, but he is now publicly revealing significant behind-the-scenes frustration.
The Celtic Warrior hit WWE’s ECW brand in 2009 with “Written In My Face” as his theme from Sean Jenness and Jim Johnston. The song eventually became a viral hit with fans, mainly due to the meme value, but was replaced by CFO$’s “Hellfire” single in April 2015. A “Written In My Face” remix was used in mid-2024, mainly due to fan buzz. Unfortunately, the three-time WWE Champion was forced to adopt Def Rebel’s “10 Beats of The Bodhrán” theme, which is still being used today.
Sheamus and fans often call for the return of his original theme, which inspired the “Too Many Limes” and “Lobsterhead” memes. On the INSIGHT podcast, Chris Van Vliet asked the 46-year-old when he first noticed the memes. He nodded to creative fans, admitted to missing the theme, and expressed frustration over asking officials to bring it back. Despite his friendship with Triple H, it seems the veteran is unable to get the Chief Content Officer to budge on the decision.
“Oh man, a long time ago. Maybe, I don’t know. Maybe 2010. People are very creative on the internet. Very creative, especially with music. I do miss that song, though. A lot of people were upset I brought it back but wasn’t allowed to keep it. [can we have it back?] Maybe… I don’t know, man. You want to go and ask? You go ask, I’m tired of asking. I’m all out of asking,” Sheamus said. [From 58:30 to 58:56]
The Irish Curse continues to chase the one title he has not held – the Intercontinental Championship, currently held by Bron Breakker. The Irish grappler last wrestled at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 30, where he and Ludwig Kaiser failed to dethrone Breakker in a Triple Threat Match.
