WWE Monday Night RAW last night was one of the biggest and most important episodes in the history of pro wrestling. The sports entertainment juggernaut’s longest-tenured brand officially debuted on Netflix.
With the move came a lot of new eyeballs, so the show was stacked. Roman Reigns battled Solo Sikoa in Tribal Combat, Rhea Ripley became the new Women’s World Champion, and Jey Uso shockingly defeated Drew McIntyre.
The main event and best match of the night saw CM Punk and Seth Rollins go one-on-one. The match ruled, but the finish surprised many fans. CM Punk nailed The Visionary with two GTS strikes, ultimately giving The Voice Of The Voiceless a massive win.
Now that Punk stood tall over Seth, many are wondering what might be next for The Straight Edge Superstar as World Wrestling Entertainment heads into WrestleMania season. This article will look at a handful of possible directions for Punk following his major win on the RAW Netflix premiere last night.
Below are four directions for CM Punk following WWE RAW’s Netflix premiere.
#4. Seth Rollins could turn heel and continue their feud
CM Punk and Seth Rollins have had a bitter rivalry despite last night’s bout on WWE RAW being their first match together since Punk returned in 2023. Their hatred and animosity toward each other had previously been kept to brawls and verbal barbs.
When the two went one-on-one, they put on an incredible match, but CM Punk won outright. This has to make the former WWE Champion furious, as Seth wanted to eradicate Punk from the company. Instead, he fell victim to the man he hates.
As a result of this loss, Seth might snap and properly turn heel. This could then lead to the two wrestling more often, perhaps at Saturday Night’s Main Event at the end of the month or even at Elimination Chamber. Regardless, a heel turn could extend the Punk-Rollins feud.
#3. CM Punk could win the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble
WWE’s next Premium Live Event is just under a month away. The Sports Entertainment juggernaut will host the 2025 Royal Rumble event live from Indianapolis, Indiana on February 1st.
As is common, the show will feature both a Men’s Royal Rumble Match and a Women’s Royal Rumble Match. John Cena officially entered the Men’s Royal Rumble Match on WWE RAW, but CM Punk might follow.
The Straight Edge Superstar noted he hasn’t won the coveted match yet and he wants to become a world champion. Entering and winning the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble Match would be a check off of the bucket list, but it would also set him up for a WrestleMania main event. It is truly a win-win for Punk if he can pull it off.
#2. He could challenge Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event
Gunther is a dominant force in WWE. He has held three titles since joining the promotion. The first two were record-breaking reigns and he is still in the midst of his third as the World Heavyweight Champion on Monday Night RAW.
CM Punk doesn’t necessarily have to win the Royal Rumble to have a WWE championship opportunity. After beating Drew McIntyre in a feud and defeating Seth Rollins, Adam Pearce may believe he has already earned a title shot.
If that’s the case, Punk could challenge Gunther. The perfect place for them to go one-on-one is Saturday Night’s Main Event later this month. It would give the show a major match that would draw a lot of viewers, while also providing a fantastic contest that fans will enjoy.
#1. Punk could be John Cena’s first Farewell Tour match
John Cena is arguably the greatest WWE Superstar of all time. The Face That Runs The Place is a 16-time world champion and a multi-time WrestleMania main eventer. He has also become a big Hollywood star.
With that being said, John’s time is up, or just about up, anyway. The legendary WWE star has revealed that 2025 is his final year as a pro wrestler and he will have his last-ever match in December. Needless to say, many stars are hoping to wrestle a match with him for the first or last time as the year progresses.
CM Punk and John Cena have a memorable history together and many hope they lock horns at least once before Cena hangs up his jorts for good. In what could be a fun twist, Punk might be Cena’s first opponent on his Farewell Tour. This would allow the two to start it off with a bang, perhaps at Saturday Night’s Main Event ahead of the 2025 Royal Rumble.
