Several former WWE wrestlers have rejoined the company since Triple H replaced Vince McMahon as the company’s creative figurehead in 2022. During a bold predictions episode of his podcast, Matt Hardy confirmed he would be interested in returning in 2025.
Matt made his name alongside his brother Jeff during the Attitude Era in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The legendary duo have wrestled for several promotions in recent years, including AEW and TNA. In October 2024, they captured the TNA World Tag Team Championship for the third time.
On The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Hardy responded positively when host Jon Alba predicted a Hardy Boyz WWE reunion this year:
“Yeah, I feel pretty good about it too.” [1:05:33 – 1:05:35]
The Hardy Boyz would not necessarily have to leave TNA to make the prediction a reality. In 2024, Joe Hendry and Jordynne Grace were among the TNA stars who appeared on NXT as part of a cross-promotional agreement.
Matt and Jeff Hardy’s last WWE match as a tag team took place on April 20, 2019. They successfully defended the SmackDown Tag Team Championship against Jimmy and Jey at a non-televised live event. However, a serious knee injury to Jeff forced the duo to relinquish their titles 10 days later.
Matt Hardy has high hopes for WWE in 2025
On January 6, RAW will air on Netflix for the first time. Several high-profile matches have been announced for the show, including CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa.
Matt Hardy thinks the Netflix deal will attract new viewers due to the streaming service’s worldwide popularity:
“With Netflix, I think it is going to change the game for WWE around the world. I think they’re going to continue to expand out to different new markets all across the world, they’re gonna build bigger fanbases, there’s gonna be new people introduced to wrestling every single week on Monday Night RAW because Netflix is everywhere. It is all across the planet, and it is going to be a game-changer for WWE.” [1:06:41 – 1:07:02]
In the same podcast episode, Hardy shared a bold prediction about how CM Punk might be perceived by other wrestlers by the end of 2025.
