John Cena’s promo on the premiere episode of WWE RAW on Netflix got so many viewers rooting for his Royal Rumble victory at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 1st. Could Logan Paul crush Cena’s chances at winning the world title one last time at WrestleMania?
A few weeks ago, The Maverick was rumored to be Cena’s WrestleMania opponent. However, this match was reportedly receiving internal backlash. Then came rumors of Paul challenging World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, which led to many forgetting about this potential bout on The Show of Show in April. WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry is almost certain it is a swerve.
Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Mark Henry picked The Rock as the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match winner, stating that the Attitude Era legend’s story with The Bloodline is significantly bigger than anything else. As for John Cena, Henry believes Logan Paul is going to run in and throw him off the top rope, igniting a program between the two this Road To WrestleMania:
“I don’t think for one second that [Logan] Paul is not gonna come in and try to ruin it for John Cena. That’s the thing that everybody wanted before John Cena left. So, let’s get back to it. The only thing that happened was times changed. I want to see Paul and Cena,” he said. [From 7:46 to 8:20]
Many have mentioned the Maverick vs. Cena bout as something that had to happen. It remains to be seen if they will finally lock horns at WrestleMania.
Logan Paul vs. Gunther and John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes are also reportedly being considered
Dwayne Johnson’s status for WrestleMania 41 has become a topic of conversation ever since last week’s episode of RAW. If he does not return to the ring for the annual extravaganza this year, then Triple H and his band of creatives need some alternative marquee contests for the show.
WWE has already sown the seeds for Logan Paul vs. Gunther on the RAW on Netflix Kickoff show last month. The Ring General made a strong statement regarding Paul’s potential challenge.
Meanwhile, Cena and Rhodes for the title was rumored to be happening, albeit there have been some differing opinions. Their colleague, Matt Hardy, feels it is a worthy addition to the WrestleMania 41 match card. Hardy believes Cody would play as a tweener for the story to work.
